Commerce, CA – 54-Year-Old Richard Gutierrez Killed in Pedestrian Crash

Commerce, CA (September 15, 2019) – A 54-year-old man in a wheelchair died in a pedestrian crash on Saturday, September 14th. The crash happened around 7:43 a.m. at the intersection of South Atlantic Boulevard and Jardine Street.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene in response to a report of the incident. According to investigators, Richard Gutierrez was crossing the street in a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck. Following the crash, Gutierrez became pinned beneath the truck. Rescue workers pronounced him dead at the crash scene.

The truck driver was not injured and has not been identified by police at this time. He did stop after the crash and cooperated with the investigation. Deputies are looking into the crash and there is no further information available at this time.
