Boyle Heights, CA – Bicyclist Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver on Whittier Blvd

Boyle Heights, CA (August 27, 2019) – An alleged hit-and-run driver struck and seriously injured a bicyclist at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Calzona Street last Thursday night, August 22nd. Police have now identified the victim as 53-year-old Gabriel Lopez.

According to authorities, the accident occurred at an unspecified time while Lopez was riding his bicycle in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. As Lopez approached the aforementioned intersection, an unknown vehicle struck him and then fled the scene.

Paramedics were immediately called to the area where they transported Lopez to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. The victim spent four days hospitalized with multiple injuries.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
