Bellflower, CA (November 19, 2019) – Police have released the identity of the woman who was hit and killed by a motor vehicle in Long Beach on Sunday evening, November 17th. According to authorities, 22-year-old Samantha Denise Rivera, of Long Beach, was struck while walking along Lakewood Boulevard in Bellflower at around 9:20 p.m.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol stated that Rivera was attempting to cross at or near the intersection with Cedar Street when she was hit by a Ford Mustang. First responders determined that the impact of the crash sent Rivera into the roadway. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He driver of the Mustang remained in the area to cooperate with authorities and no charges have been filed at this time. The incident currently remains under investigation.

Statistics provided by the Long Beach Police Department found that fatal pedestrian accidents in Long Beach increased from six percent in 2015 to 13 percent in 2016. The rate of these accidents has been climbing as a total of 356 pedestrians were involved in collisions in 2015, which was representative of a steady increase for three straight years.
