Bakersfield, CA – 4 Children Among 7 Injured in Head-on DUI Crash on Di Giorgio Rd.

Bakersfield, CA (August 13, 2019) – Four children suffered serious injuries that left three others with serious injuries on Monday night, August 12th. The accident took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Di Giorgio Road near Cottonwood Road in South Bakersfield.

California Highway Patrol stated that Eduardo Blanco, 27, was arrested at the scene for DUI after operating a GMC Sierra pickup truck that crashed head-on with a Dodge Charger that was occupied by five people. Three people were injured in Blanco’s GMC, including a four-year-old child and a nine-year-old child, and were treated for minor injuries. A three-year-old child in Blanco’s vehicle also broke her arm and femur bone, according to CHP. She was life-flighted to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

The driver who was operating the Dodge Charger and a female passenger both suffered broken legs and lacerations to their faces. A nine-month-old child in the Dodge Charger suffered a traumatic brain injury and was also Medevaced to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

The intoxicated driver Blanco also broke his femur bone and he was placed under arrest.
