Bakersfield, CA – 1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Crash Involving Big Rig on Hwy. 99

Bakersfield, CA (March 22, 2020) – One person was killed and another was hurt in a crash that took place in Bakersfield on Sunday, March 22nd. The crash was reported just after 4:00 a.m. along Highway 99 near Highway 119.

According to the California Highway Patrol reports, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when it was struck from behind by a semi-truck. Both the truck and the Volkswagen were pushed off the highway due to the force of the collision.

The Jetta driver was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.  The big rig driver was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

The crash is under investigation at this time.
